Hi everyone, Barbara is
forwarding the scanned versions of my comments. Here is a
summary:
- We need to
check the HSPF model – I am not sure that it is calibrated at S-78. I also
understand from Rich that there may be some issues with measurements at S-78
(TSS)?
- DSLLC needs
to use the standard FDEP report format. Table and figure references need to be
corrected (there are several duplicates, they are not sequential, they need to
be 5.X).
- I thought we
were using the term hydrologic units rather than subwatersheds. Subwatershed
has been used for tidal versus freshwater
Caloosahatchee.
- Figures of
the Study Area should be at least 8.5 by 11 inches. We had better versions as
our starting point from our Nutrient Assessment Study. Figures should include
labels of major roads, major structures (at least the big three), water bodies
(e.g., Lake
O), study area,
hydrologic units.
- There are
several incomplete sentences.
- The BMP
write-up is missing. Were BMPs included in HSPF? How? (e.g., reduced loading
factors proportional to the percentage of BMPs) They should be accounted for
in the model. We need a lot more here.
- The water
quality parameters are inconsistent and sometimes nonstandard (e.g., nitrate
and nitrite are generally combined, organic and ammonia N are generally
referred to as TKN, differentiate the versions of BOD, add TP). We need to
consolidate and adjust for consistency.
- DSLLC needs
to zoom in on the figures (use the entire scale) so the reader can see the
results and comparisons.
- We should
have some statistical comparisons for goodness of fit (e.g., where is the
Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient for HSPF?). What about non-parametric tests for the
water quality results?
- When a water
quality standard exists, highlight that line on the graph (e.g, 5.0 mg/L for
DO).
- How does
WASP compare to EFDC?
We need to correct most of
these prior to issuance along with comments from Tony, Charles, Rich, and
Silong. We’ll probably submit this later than tomorrow.
Thanks!
