transect points ordered east to west
transects divided into 100 bins and given an average value for each. 
7 trasects were created between each real transect and given values in a linear relationship between the two transect points.
where the transects were drastically constricted, ie under causeways, extrapolation beyond a specified angle were ignored to preserve the N-S linear features
inherent in the lagoon.
these new transects were clipped to the islands and shoreline and deleted.
Points along the shoreline were added with a depth of  0 m.
unmeasured shoals were given a value of 0.2m
points falling in a dreadged area were given a flat value 
of 4m or 2m respective to the measured maximum depth
areas falling between the intracoastal channel markers
was given a flat depth of 4m if it did not exceed that depth. sharp drops in depth adjacent to the dredge channel were assumed a part of it and due to sinuosity.
TINs of these points were then created.
Due to the irratic nature of the raw points they were not
reintroduced prior to surface creation.
From the TIN a latus was created, as were contours, and 
finally a polygon coverage. 
This coverage was then unioned with a lagoon segment coverage giving county, sublagoon, fips, terrain, seagrass cluster,etc.
depths which managed to bleed beyond the shoreline or onto islands were then clipped or given a negative value
based on their terrain status (land or water).

BRIEF METHODS ABOUT SEGMENT DELINEATION

The coverage was modified by Whit Green to reflect current development and other information gained on drainage patterns and boundaries for Turkey Creek, Crane Creek, Eau Gallie River and Horse Creek watersheds. Additional changes were made to incorporate fieldwork in delineating drainage for the following areas: Baytree, Suntree, Palm Shores, Pineda, Viera, Bonaventure, Rockledge and City of Cocoa. Changes were based on data obtained from Aerial Photogrammetric Mapping of Malabar area, stormwater loading studies in Malabar, Crane Creek and South Prong of Sebastian, dialogue and meetings with Palm Bay regulatory staff (Fariborz Zanganeh, Ralph Brown and John Juilianna), and numerous days of on-site reconnaissance 1999-2006.

Changes were also made to combine certain seagrass cluster segments together. Specifically, IR12 and IR13A were joined and named IR12. IR13B then became IR13. Segments IR14 and IR15 were combined into segment IR14-15. These segment changes were done by consensus of ES Coastal Basins Staff and predicated upon hydraulic analysis as well as similarity of water quality data.

The intent is to update the boundaries of the major basin, sub-lagoon regions and seagrass segments to reflect best available information on current drainage conditions and to be consistent with that used for watershed loading models. It should be noted that changes depicted in this layer are not complete consistent with IRL models in that more accurate information is reflected in this layer than what has been used in models to date.
