This dataset provides a common reference for linework and polygon areas associated with the Northern Everglades and the protection plans for the Lake Okeechobee Watershed (LOPP), Caloosahatchee River Watershed (CRWPP), and St. Lucie River Watershed (SLRWPP). This is one of the components of the "official" boundary for the 2011/12 version of the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Plan (NEEPP).

The Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program was mandated in 2007 by the Florida Legislature. The 2012 Florida Statutes, section 373.4595 -- Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program -- defines the Northern Everglades as "the Lake Okeechobee watershed, the Caloosahatchee River watershed, and the St. Lucie River watershed", and finds that "the Lake Okeechobee watershed, the Caloosahatchee River watershed, and the St. Lucie River watershed are critical water resources of the state, providing many economic, natural habitat, and biodiversity functions benefiting the public interest, including agricultural, public, and environmental water supply; flood control; fishing; navigation and recreation; and habitat to endangered and threatened species and other flora and fauna."
Create a fixed, "official" boundary for the 2011 Lake Okeechobee Protection Plan, a component of the 2011/12 NEEPP.

This dataset is fixed, and thus may differ from the "current" version, which is expected to be updated occasionally as the SFWMD AHED linework is revised or other basin refinements are made.
The 2011/12 NEEPP includes the 2011 LOPP, 2012 CRWPP, and 2012 SLRPP. The boundaries for these plans are considered fixed and "official". They may also be referred to as "2011 WPP" or "WPP11", because much of the work for these plans was done in 2011. The 2011 WPP boundaries may differ from subsequent versions, dated July 2012 or later, which are intended to reflect more "current" delineations.

The polygons used for the 2011 LOPP were dissolved on the field 'NEvrRegion'. The field was renamed to LOPP_SUBWSHED, with some simplification of text. Lake Okechobee was converted from a "hole in the data" to a valid polygon.20120716
