Okay, I think you will be able to use my download.  I queried the data to see if there are springs and groundwater stations and there are plenty and plenty of data to go with it.  I hope it works for you.  The data is stored on oracle tables on STORET9i.  If you have never accessed this instance, you may need the below tnsnames entry added to your tnsnames file.

Once you can connect to STORET9i, you can log in using FLASTORET as the username and password.  The tables are under the STORET1 schema.  The stations table is called USGS_Stations_2008_GW.  I had to download the station information again and uploaded it to STORET9i this morning because station type was not requested by Nancy and therefore was not in the downloaded I did in August.  I am going to ask Nancy if I can remove USGS_Stations_2008 and use USGS_Station_2008_GW instead.  The only major difference is more information not less.  I don’t want to have duplicate tables cluttering our system. 

 

In order to determine the meaning of station_type_cd, go to:  http://nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/help?codes_help#station_type_cd

 

The raw data for 2008 is stored in USGS_Results_2008.

 

 

Yeah…I was thinking we can use your AUGUST 2008 download provided it has all gw and springs and nobody else has manipulated your original download.  If this is so…please let me know how to view Oracle tables with TOAD.

Are you thinking that you guys can use what I pulled for Nancy from the NWIS site in August?  This is what I do each year (attached).  If you think this will help, I will make sure you have a way to view the Oracle tables tomorrow. I must admit that I do not know much about the USGS data outside the steps needed to download the RAW data.  I do not manipulate it (per Nancy’s request); I do not analyze it; I do not make correction.  If you have questions about their data, you would need to contact them directly.  They want you to use the contact information on their NWIS site.  The address is in the attached documentation.
