ArcGIS Desktop geoprocessing tools require that Python and the Python Win32 extension are installed. If the ArcGIS Desktop setup does not find Python or the Python Win32 extension on the target computer, it will install Python 2.1 and Win32all-151 extension during a typical or complete installation. You may choose a Custom installation to unselect the Python feature to avoid installing these features. Additionally, if the Python setup is executed during ArcGIS Desktop's installation, you will be provided with the opportunity to choose its installation location. The Python installation location can not include spaces.
You may visit the Python download site to install any version of Python and its corresponding Win32 extension prior to installing ArcGIS Desktop to meet this requirement.

The following setup logic is used to determine whether the ArcGIS Desktop setup includes Python and Win32 as an installation feature:
If any version of Python and Win32 extension exists on the target machine, Python is not included in the ArcGIS Desktop setup.
If no version of Python or Win32 extension exist on the target machine, Python and Win32 are installed with a typical or complete ArcGIS Desktop setup. You may unselect the Python feature from a custom ArcGIS Desktop setup.

When Python 2.1 and Win32all-151 are installed by the ArcGIS Desktop setup, they are not uninstalled when you uninstall ArcGIS Desktop. You must manually remove them. The Add/Remove program items for them are
