Mr.
Al Krause |
![]() |
Al Krause received his BS in Geology from the University of
Florida and performed his graduate work in Environmental and Engineering
Geology at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. His thesis work
was on the Engineering Geology of the Windsor Quadrangle, Colorado, an area
now intensely developed as part of the Boulder-Greely-Fort Collins Triangle. Al currently serves as the Solid Waste Coordinator for the University of Florida and is the owner and senior consultant of Cave & Karst Resource, a consulting firm specializing in cave survey, conservation, restoration and management services. He is a Fellow of the National Speleological Society and is a member and past Chairman of the NSS Conservation Committee. Al’s cave experience spans over 35 years of cave exploration and study, including service at various times as the chairman of the Florida, Colorado, and West Texas Cave Surveys. |
| Mr.
Pete Butt Cave Explorer Karst Environmental Services, Inc. |

Pete Butt has been diving for almost 30 years, 20 of those as a cave diver. Since 1987, he has worked with Karst Environmental Services, Inc. (KES), performing specialized services for a variety of clients. These services include underwater cave exploration and survey projects, spring resource evaluations, subsurface radiolocation of wells into conduits, dye tracer studies, biological surveys, and spring water source development, permitting and monitoring for water bottlers. Through KES, he has worked to develop a method to estimate the discharge of submerged spring vents and conduits. He has been a diving instructor since 1977, a cave diving instructor since 1983, and is a past Training Chairman with the NSS-CDS. He has a B.S. in Aquatic Biology and Limnology from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point |

Dr.
Todd R. Kincaid |
![]() |
Todd Kincaid earned BS and MS degrees from the University of Florida in geology and hydrogeology in 1991 and 1994 and a Ph.D. in karst hydrogeology from the University of Wyoming in 1999. His work has addressed various aspects of karst hydrogeology including: quantifying groundwater / surface water interactions in the unconfined Floridan aquifer, identifying hydraulic mechanisms for conduit development and their implications for groundwater protection efforts, and field characterizations and conceptual model development to support advanced numerical modeling techniques in karst aquifers. He is an active underwater cave explorer having mapped and documented extensive cave systems in Florida, Turkey, and the Yucatan Peninsula. He is currently Vice-President of Hazlett-Kincaid, Inc, where he develops digital and visual models of complex geological environments such as karst and Science director of Global Underwater Explorers, where he coordinates GUE's involvement with underwater research activities. |
