A Geological Investigation of the Offshore Federal Area Along the
Coasts of Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties of FLorida (State Fiscal Year 2006-2007)

This report documents the findings of the Year 2 cooperative agreement between the Minerals Management Service of the U.S. Department of Interior (MMS) and the Florida Geological Survey (FGS). The goal of that agreement is to facilitate characterizing the beach nourishment potential of sands found in Federal waters off the northeast coast of Florida. The study area includes Federal waters from three to approximately ten miles offshore of Nassau, Duval, St. John’s, Flagler, and Volusia counties and may ultimately include the northern half of Brevard County. This report details work accomplished to date off Nassau, Duval and St. Johns Counties. Analysis of sediment samples collected in Nassau and Duval counties, which was reported in the year one report, has not been duplicated in this report.
