A Geological Investigation of the Offshore Area Along Florida's Northeast Coast
Year Four (State Fiscal Year 2005-2006)

This report documents the findings of Year Four of the cooperative agreement between the Minerals Management Service of the U.S. Department of Interior (MMS) and the Florida Geological Survey (FGS). The goal of that agreement is to facilitate characterizing the beach nourishment potential of sands found in federal waters off the northeast coast of Florida. The study area is that portion of the State of Florida consisting of Nassau, Duval, St. Johns, Flagler and Volusia Counties and their beaches as well as adjacent federal water from three (3) nautical miles (5.6 kilometers) to sixteen (16) nautical miles (29.6 kilometers) offshore. Analysis of sediment samples collected in Nassau, Duval, St. Johns, and Flagler counties, which was reported in the Years One, Two, and Three reports, has not been duplicated in this report.
