How to get an Aerial Photograph

Instructions to get an aerial photograph for your project.

 

  1. Click on this link to DEP Geographic Information Systems web page or type http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gis/ into your browser address bar.

  2. Click on the link to "Map Direct" under the Map Direct heading. The mapping application opens.

  1. Zoom to your property or project area.  Use the magnifying glass tools magglasses.jpg or click the "Zoom" tab on the left side of your screen, click "Zoom to Address" and enter the address of the property, if known.

  1. Use the drawing tools on the left side of the map to draw your property boundary on the aerial, or print the map and draw the boundary on with a pen or marker.

To print the map:

 

  1. Click the "Tools" tab on the left side of the screen.

  2. Click "Print Map" in the options.

  1. Choose an 8.5" x 11" paper size.

  2. If you need a certain scale (such as 1" = 400 ft), select a scale from the drop-down menu.  (1:5000 is approximately the same as 1" = 400 ft) it is most important for the map to be legible, so use whatever scale is the best for map legibility.

  3. Name the map, if you wish.

  4. Click "OK".

  5. A PDF map will be created click the link to retrieve it.  You can save it to your computer (recommended, for your records) or print it directly.
