You can use Map Direct, the Department's online mapping application, to map the location of your property and find out if it is in an Outstanding Florida Water (OFW) or Aquatic Preserve (AP).
Click on this link to DEP Geographic Information Systems web page or type http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gis/ into your browser address bar.
Click on the link to "Map Direct" under the Map Direct heading. The mapping application opens.
Under "Change Map Focus" in the upper left corner of the screen, choose "Environmental Resource Permitting" from the drop-down list.
Click the "Layers" tab
on the left side of the screen. 
Click the white page icon to "turn off all layers in this folder" next to the "Environmental Resource Permitting" folder under Map Layers. This will remove unnecessary layers from the map.
Click to check the boxes next to the layers "Aquatic Preserves" and "Outstanding Florida Waters".
Find your property - one way is to
use the magnifying glass 
to zoom in to your property location. Another way is to click
the "Zoom" tab on the left side of the screen, click "Zoom
to Address", and enter the property address, if known.
Zoom in or out using the magnifying glass tools until your project area and waterbody is clearly visible on the map. If your project is in one of the hatched (marked) waters, then it is in an OFW or AP. Use the map legend to determine which category it is in. There are different permitting requirements for OFWs and APs.
To print the map:
Click the "Tools" tab on the left side of the screen.
Click "Print Map" in the options.
Choose an 8.5" x 11" paper size.
Name the map, if you wish.
Click "OK".
A PDF map is created. You can save it to your computer (recommended, for your records) or print it directly.
