This map was for purely informational use only, to let folks know that we have some of this data available. It is compiled from the data that Latrincy has gathered by individually contacting each municipal provider. This is a perfect example of what we also discussed in the meeting about how there is probably lots of pieces of local data that is tucked away on personal computers that we should all have access to. With that in mind, I strongly encourage anyone with additional info to add to this to contact Latrincy/Ron with that info. This will ensure that the data is as good as we can get it. There is no citation, date, name, etc. on the map. By “wastewater” I assume you mean central sewer only, not package plants? I have some concerns about this map. We know for a fact that not all of the green areas in Orange, Seminole, & Alachua Counties are served by sewer (based on information received during BMAP development). That’s OK when shown at this statewide level, but I’m concerned if this information makes its way into finer-scale TMDLs without being ground-truthed. This is a perfect example of the type of use restrictions that need to go along with any shapefile, as we discussed during the meeting that Amy set up. & in many cases, we just don’t know whether an area is on septic or sewer. This map implies that all developed areas shown in white are septic, which we know is not true. All of this is not meant to critique Latrincy’s work…if we’ve learned one thing it’s that this type of information is very hard to pull together & she’s done a great job! It’s just something I’m very sensitive to, given that it’s caused real headaches lately. Please consider this a cautionary note on how this information is intended be used, and how you might want to go about distributing it (i.e. might not want to just post it on dataminer…) I’d be happy to share more background on the issues we’ve run into, if you’re interested. This is the data that is locationally accurate and also in shapefile format. There is quite a bit of data that is either in CAD or has some projection issues. Ron Hughes will be taking over working on this layer and he will be converting the CAD files and correcting the projection issues in the near future. If you are interested in seeing this shapefile, please contact Latrincy and she will direct you to the folder where it is stored. If you have additional data or questions, please contact Latrincy until Thursday, then Ron afterwards.
