These preliminary polygons have been drawn from the features evident in the 2002 Palm Beach County LADS bathymetric survey. They have not been groundtruthed or assessed for accuracy. The interpretation of LADS features is solely based on geomorphology present in the bathymetric data. Mapping low relief areas such as the inshore hardground is problematic due to little distinction between sand and reef in the LADS data. These areas may not be mapped due to a high probability of error. The absence of groundtruthing increases the probability of misclassification, hence decreasing map accuracy. Also, due to latitudinal gradients along the coast, it is probable that the benthic habitats (i.e. reef community) on the same geomorphologic feature in the South (e.g. Dade's Outer Reef) are distinct from those in the North (e.g. Palm Beach's Outer Reef). This effort does not attempt to distinguish this variability.
</descript><citation><citeinfo><origin>Brian Walker</origin><title Sync="TRUE">PalmBeachHabitat_draft</title><ftname Sync="TRUE">PalmBeachHabitat_draft</ftname><geoform Sync="TRUE">vector digital data</geoform><onlink Sync="TRUE">\\DUSKY\F$\palmbeachlads\palmbeachmapping\habitatmapping\PalmBeachHabitat_draft.shp</onlink></citeinfo></citation><timeperd><timeinfo><sngdate><caldate>February 10, 2005</caldate></sngdate></timeinfo></timeperd><status><progress>In work</progress><update>Unknown</update></status><spdom><bounding><westbc Sync="TRUE">-80.065331</westbc><eastbc Sync="TRUE">-80.009701</eastbc><northbc Sync="TRUE">26.765330</northbc><southbc Sync="TRUE">26.339459</southbc></bounding><lboundng><leftbc Sync="TRUE">593271.297568</leftbc><rightbc Sync="TRUE">598459.061596</rightbc><bottombc Sync="TRUE">2913653.780715</bottombc><topbc Sync="TRUE">2960787.742595</topbc></lboundng></spdom><keywords><theme/></keywords><accconst>These data are supplied to The Nature Conservancy with permission by Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute and Nova Southeastern University for the sole purpose of the reef resiliency program.
