The Desktop Administrator helps you administer your software and provides valuable information about your installation. With it, you can perform tasks such as:
Access the Registration Wizard to register ArcView and its extensions.
View the available licenses or installation and registration status.
The Desktop Administrator can be accessed after installing by selecting Start > Programs > ArcGIS > Desktop Administrator.
If only ArcView (Single Use) is installed, the Desktop Administrator provides information about your installation and registration as described below.
Select 'ArcGIS Desktop (your computer name)' to view information about your installation and ArcGIS Configuration. This information may be valuable in troubleshooting an installation or providing details for support.
Select 'Register ArcView and Extensions' to register ArcView and extensions. You can also use the registration wizard to register an extension for an evaluation trial period. See Registering ArcView Single Use for more information on registering ArcView and extensions.
Select 'Availability' to display the installation and registration status
of ArcView and extensions.

Note If you do not have the proper permissions, the Desktop Administrator will not allow you to change seat types or the license manager. Create and delete permissions are required to the following registry hives to change seat type and license manager: 1. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID 2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESRI Refer to Knowledge Base article 17970 for more information. |
